On March 6, The Edison Foundation and the Institute for Electric Innovation brought together a group of electric utilities, technology companies, regulators, and policy makers for our annual celebration of innovation in the electric sector, Powering the People. This year's focus was the Next Generation Utility. With power companies and their technology partners deploying digital communications, sensors, control systems, and millions of digital 'smart' meters, we are merging previously separate power, information, and telecommunications systems into an intelligent, resilient, modern, digital grid. Together, electric utilities, regulators, and technology companies are transforming the way that American and the world manage, deliver, and use electricity.
