About the Conference
The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) projects electricity demand will increase at least 30 percent by 2030 as the U.S. population increases, the economy expands, and the use of electric technologies grows. At the same time, projected reserve margins are declining across the country.
In order to meet the projected growth in electricity demand, in addition to expanded energy-efficiency measures, major investments are needed to expand and modernize most elements of the electric utility business. The industry also must address the obstacles to building new generation and transmission in a carbon-constrained world, while at the same time addressing global competition for construction materials and energy supply, natural gas constraints, and developing—but immature—technologies.
This conference will bring together policymakers, energy industry and environmental experts, labor and consumer representatives, and Wall Street to focus on:
- energy efficiency
- emerging technologies
- projected generation and transmission investment needs
- case studies for overcoming obstacles
